Regardless of where it comes from, the most important thing is how a person reacts and deals with it. To help, we’ll provide some tips on how to recognize and deal with jealousy.

Recognize your jealousy.

If you can’t recognize that you’re being jealous or irrational, it will be impossible to make progress. Most people don’t like to admit that they’re jealous of someone else because of personal pride.

Be happy with yourself.

Jealousy stems from feelings of inadequacy. If a person experienced a lot of insecurity when they were younger, it will often manifest itself into jealousy later in life. It’s important that you like yourself and believe that you have something to offer. Focusing on yourself rather than someone else is a great way to have gratitude for the things you DO have, not the things you DON’T have.

Surround yourself with supportive people.

It’s extremely important to have friends that you can talk to about these feelings. Your support group should be open and listen to anything you have to say without passing judgement. If you’re in a relationship, you should be discussing these feelings with your partner, not just your friends.

You’re going to be alright.

Social media has made many people feel inadequate. People are now judging themselves based on what they see on the internet. A healthier way to live is to create your own definition of success. By creating your own personal goals, you’ll be more focused on yourself and will have more success.
